Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s child Seraphina, 15, confirms new name at grandfather’s memorial

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s 15-year-old child, previously known as Seraphina Rose, has confirmed their new name, Fin.

The teen made a statement in a black suit and fresh buzz-cut at their grandfather’s memorial service last weekend. Introducing themselves as Fin, they read from the Book of Proverbs at Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston, West Virginia.

The service for Jennifer’s father, William Jack Garner, who passed away at 85, was broadcast live on Facebook. From the lectern, Fin declared, “Hello my name is Fin Affleck,” before sharing wisdom from Proverbs 16:8: “Better is a little with righteousness, than a large income with injustice.”

Jennifer took to Instagram to honor her late father following his passing, expressing gratitude for his gentle nature, teasing smile, and dedication as a doting girl dad. Her tribute read: “We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanour and quiet strength. For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith.”, reports the Mirror.

Fin has a sister, Violet Anne, 18, and a twin brother, Samuel, 15. Their parents separated in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2018, but they have maintained a friendly relationship to co-parent their children effectively.

Ben tied the knot with Jennifer Lopez in 2022, and Fin has developed a close bond with J-Lo’s 16-year-old Emme Maribel Muniz, who identifies as non-binary and uses gender-neutral pronouns. In February, Fin and Emme were spotted spending a day out with Ben, during which Fin showcased their new hairstyle.

J-Lo publicly acknowledged Emme’s preferred pronouns during the LA Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala. She shared on stage: “The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this, and I ask them to sing with me all the time but they won’t.”

“So, this is a very special occasion, because they’re very, very busy and booked and pricey. They cost me when they come out, but they’re worth every single penny because they’re my favourite duet partner of all time.”
